Zanzibar Assured of Good Oil, Gas Results (allAfrica.com)

ZANZIBARIS should hope for good results from the ongoing discussion with foreign exploration companies, the House was informed on Wednesday.
Zanzibar Minister for Finance, Mr Omar Yussuf Mzee and the Deputy Minister for Land, Settlement, Water and Energy, Mr Haji Mwadini Makame, informed the House that Zanzibar authorities are working with Shell and RAK companies.
“Minister responsible for Energy, Mr Ramadhani Abdalla Shaaban, is leading the Zanzibar/Shell joint committee, while Mr Haroun Ali Suleiman chairs the Zanzibar/RAK committee,’ said Mr Mzee.
The statement was in response to questions asked by backbenchers led by Mr Ali Salum Haji (CCM), who demanded to know how Zanzibaris have benefited from ministers’ frequent travels abroad, including recent Mr Shaaban’s visit to Netherlands.
Zanzibar has been working with Royal Dutch Shell plc, commonly known as Shell, an Anglo-Dutch multinational oil and gas company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the United Kingdom.
Zanzibar is also working with Ras al Khaimah Gas Company from United Arab Emirates (UAE) in discussing the future of the expected oil and gas exploration in Zanzibar.
