ABU DHABI, The solidarity and support extended by the UAE people to Rohingya women and children underscore the UAE leadership’s care and concern towards people affected by the unfortunate events in Myanmar, said H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union,GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, FDF. She made these remarks while receiving a delegation of women aid workers of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, which returned from a relief mission in Bangladesh.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima, who is also Honorary Chairperson of the ERC, praised the humanitarian mission undertaken by the ERC female relief team in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh. She said their mission was crucial as it came to the rescue of most vulnerable segments, notably women and children, when their conditions were worsening.
”The UAE will remain committed to humanitarian and developmental principles regardless of the race, faith or ethnicity of those in need of help,” added Sheikha Fatima.
She highlighted that women are key partners in entrenching the UAE’s stature in the international humanitarian works.
Sheikha Fatima has donated AED10 million to the UAE’s humanitarian campaign for Rohingya refugees, especially children and women among them.
The campaign aims to provide basic amenities to the Rohingya refugees to alleviate their sufferings and improve their living conditions.
