SAUDI ARABIA LAUNCHES A NEW AIRLINE UNDER THE NAME OF RIYADH AIRLINES

Saudi Arabia announced today the launch of a new air carrier under the name “Riyadh Airlines”, as part of its endeavor to transform the capital, Riyadh, into an international aviation hub that competes with regional centers such as Dubai and Doha, according to “Agence France Presse”.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Riyadh Airlines aims to “launch flights that reach more than 100 destinations around the world by 2030.”

The agency stated that Tony Douglas, former president of Etihad Airways, who is based in Abu Dhabi, will hold the position of CEO of the fledgling company.

Saudi Arabia is pursuing ambitious aviation goals as part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s wide-ranging “Vision 2030” reform, including more than tripling annual air traffic to 330 million passengers by the end of the decade.
