This year, the marathon is participated in by 130 teams from 17 countries namely, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, UAE, and Vietnam.
As for the Philippine contingent, 30 teams from over 20 universities nationwide have confirmed their participation.
The Shell Ecomarathon Asia is only one of the many events lined up for the DOT’s Visit the Philippines Year 2015, an eventcentric campaign aimed at strengthening the country’s brand image.
It will also help the agency meet its tourism goal of recording 10million tourists by 2016.
