Over 350 ladies from all over the UAE join forces In Community Relay Race Promoting Healthy Activity.

Established in Abu Dhabi in 2016, The Dash Series, launched in conjunction with The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, intended to motivate communities to live more healthy, active lifestyles, the Dash Series aims to reduce obesity and chronic disease in line with government strategies within the region.

Launching its 3rd Ladies Dash Relay Race yesterday at Yas Marina Circuit, the event saw women from all walks of life come together to enjoy a fun evening of activities for every ability level. Friends, family and colleagues joined forces, competing for a whole host of different prizes including best dressed and fastest time in the 5k relay race.

The event was specifically designed to engage females as we have found an increased requirement in this region for these kinds of closed events, prioritizing the privacy of the participants says event organizer and CEO of INTERACT. It was so inspiring to see so many nationalities, religions, cultures and languages to come together at one event.

In addition to the replay race, both children and adults were welcomed to join a whole host of activities on the main stage including, Zumba, trampolining, CrossFit and yoga, all held within the high-energy main stage area.

In an exciting finale, we saw Daman Local Heroes Team 1, take first place with a total team time of 18.09. Swiftly followed by Yas Cycles Triathlon Team, in second place with a total team time of 18.24. In 3rd Place Abu Dhabi Striders Team (A), crossing the finish line with a total team time of 18.30.

The title for Fastest Lap Time was awarded to Kiera Kearnan-Erb with a time of 3.19.

Best Dressed Team was awarded to the Tri Belles for their impressive and collective group of costumes, ranging from an inflatable dinosaur, panda and flamingos.

The Most Improved Team from 2018 was awarded to The Department of Health and The Best Supported Team was awarded to the energetic Emirates Steel – Pink Steelers.

Yesterdays event was the first of this seasons events to kick off the Dash Series, with the next mixed event happening 23rd November at Al Hudayriat Island, combining Mini Dash and Corporates event.

Dr Aysha Al Dhaheri from Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre spoke on the event saying, We are in full support of the Dash Series and all that it’s achieving within the community, especially when it provides an opportunity celebrate females. It’s rewarding to see the impact of such events and the legacy it is leaving, empowering women and girls in the UAE, through the promotion of sports and physical activity, Such activities considered as a great examples of community mobilization and engagement towards adopting a better healthy lifestyle .
