Nahyan bin Mubarak receives French delegation

ABU DHABI, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, has affirmed the deep political, economic, cultural and strategic relations between the UAE and France since the founding of the Union by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He made his remarks during a meeting with a French delegation headed by Jean-Marie Bockel, member of the French Senate and President of the Senate friendship group with the Gulf countries.

Sheikh Nahyan added that these relations have been strengthened under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised the UAE’s national policies in promoting the values of tolerance, respect, coexistence and harmony among all members of society without discrimination on race, colour, and religion, which is embodied by the UAE through national legislation and laws, educational curricula, community programmes, economic projects and various cultural and sports initiatives.

The policy of the UAE is to consolidate tolerance locally, regionally and internationally, the minister said, adding, that it is one of the country’s main policies in establishing its relationship with all civilisations, cultures and religions. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing the channels of human communication and cultural exchange between different peoples and cultures, which will positively effect everyone.

The French delegation praised the UAE’s unique experience in embracing more than 200 nationalities, which constitute the diverse UAE community fabric, making the state an oasis of intellectual, economic and cultural progress.
