MOTEXHA Spring 2004 launches KidZone

MOTEXHA Spring 2004 launches KidZone ABU DHABI, Mar 20, 2004 (WAM) — Children are emerging as the most important consumer segment in the Middle East garment industry, as the demand for children’s apparel is growing by 15 to 20 percent annually. To respond to this growing demand for children’s wear, MOTEXHA Spring 2004, the definitive trade-show for the fashion and textile industry, has introduced KidZone, a dedicated section for children’s clothing and accessories. This new initiative will bring a large number of international manufacturers of children’s clothing and accessories in direct contact with trade buyers and entrepreneurs in the Middle East. Recent market studies indicate that the Arabian Gulf has the fifth largest population of children and second largest expenditure on children’s clothing and accessories globally. The countries in the GCC (Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council) have among the highest birth rates in the world, while nearly half the estimated 25 million population in Saudi Arabia and Oman is below the age of 14, according to a press release. “Our decision to launch a specialized section for children’s clothing and products was prompted by feedback from traders in the marketplace. Our research indicated that over 57 percent of trade visitors to our shows in the recent past requested more baby and children’s wear. KidZone at MOTEXHA offers trade visitors a chance to see first-hand the latest global trends in children’s clothing, and more importantly, to do business with a large number of children’s wear manufacturers from the Indian subcontinent, South East Asia and Europe,” stated Geoffrey Booy, Director, IIR Exhibitions. “There is no doubt that the market for children’s wear is booming across the Middle East. In the UAE alone, which boasts one of the highest per capita garment consumption ((PCC)) figures in the world, a significant proportion of the US$ 25 PCC per day, is spent on consumer goods for babies and children. This partially represents the fact that parents in the Arab world are some of the biggest spenders in the children’s garment industry worldwide. For traders in the Middle East looking to take advantage of a lucrative growth market, KidZone offers an ideal window of opportunity,” continued Booy. With the introduction of KidZone, MOTEXHA is perpetuating the trend of vertical segments within the show, as seen in international trade shows. This specialization not only indicates that MOTEXHA is driving and encouraging industry trends, but also offers serious trade buyers direct and straightforward access to the products they are interested in.
