DUBAI, 26th October, 2015 (WAM) — More than 100 drivers and riders, including participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, took part in Friday’s second round of the Emirates Desert Championship, EDC, held in the Margham area of Dubai.
It was a great day for Emirati competitors with Ali Matar Al Ketbi winning the Auto competition, Omar Sawan winning the Buggy competition and Mansoor Al Suwaidi winning in the Quad class. Both Al Ketbi and Sawan were delighted with their victories, given that each only made their championship debuts in Round One of the series, held two weeks previously, and both will be keen to maintain their good form going into round three.
“It is great to see some new competitors on the top of the podium this week”, said Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, ATCUAE, “This is what keeps the racing exciting and the competitors interested. This is true grassroots motorsport, and it is a pleasure to see everyone so enthusiastic about the championships so early in the season.”
The Emirates Desert Championship is organised by the Emirates Motor Sport Federation with the support of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE.
Round three of the championship is scheduled for Friday, 13th November, at a yet to be disclosed location.
