LOOK AHEAD TO THE 112 EMIRATES FA CUP FIRST ROUND QUALIFYING TIES TAKING PLACE

This weekend will see 224 teams take part in the Emirates FA Cup first round qualifying, as 88 clubs from across Step 3 enter the competition.

There will be 112 ties played across the weekend, starting with four matches on Friday night.

The opening game on Saturday will be North Shields’ trip to Bury AFC, who entered the competition for the first time after forming in 2019 following the expulsion of Bury FC. This clash will kick off at 12.30pm and will be shown on the BBC’s red button, iPlayer and website.

Bury AFC are one of five teams still in the competition who are experiencing the Emirates FA Cup for the first time, with Buckhurst Hill, Midhurst & Easebourne, Shefford Town & Campton, and Worcester Raiders the others.

The lowest ranked remaining team are Wincanton Town of the Toolstation Western Division One, who are the only remaining Step 6 side and will travel to AFC Totton of Step 4 on Saturday afternoon.

West Didsbury & Chorlton are among the teams who have already made history by reaching this stage of the competition and will welcome phoenix club Macclesfield FC, whose squad includes former Championship star Nicky Maynard.

Sheringham will end their 61-year wait to play in the first round qualifying when they travel to Lowestoft Town, whilst the world’s youngest football club owners at Walton & Hersham will be hoping to keep their dreams alive at home to Beaconsfield Town.

The victorious clubs at that stage of the competition will land £2,250, with those defeated still receiving £750.

The sides will also then progress to second round qualifying, which will take place across the weekend of Saturday 17 September.
