H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais: Parliamentary Work in the UAE Is a Symbiotic Relationship Where Roles Integrate to Serve the Country and Its People

Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Excellency Dr Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, asserted that parliamentary work in the UAE is rooted in collaborative efforts and the integration of roles between the government and the Federal National Council, firmly establishing the sector as one of the most successful parliamentary experiences in the region and around the world – one that strives to serve the country and fulfil the aspirations of its people.

“Guided by the forward-thinking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses, the Rulers of the emirates, parliamentary work is on track to see more progress and prosperity, in line with the UAE’s long record of achievements across all sectors,” H.E. Al Owais said.

H.E. stressed that the ‘Shura’ approach is deep-seated in Emirati society and fosters a direct, symbiotic relationship between the UAE’s leadership and its people. “The UAE’s Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan laid the foundations for this tradition, and the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan followed the same path,” he noted. “Over the past 50 years, solid foundations were laid for a parliamentary sector that embodies the voice of UAE citizens and strives to meet their needs and expectations.”

H.E. Al Owais commended H.E. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, for the role he plays, and thanked all members of the Federal Government for their commitment to attending FNC sessions and collaborating with the Council to enable it to carry out its constitutional duties. H.E. also thanked FNC members, the team at the General Secretariat of the FNC, and the team at the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs for their efforts to coordinate between the government and the Council to advance parliamentary work in the UAE.

The 3rd Ordinary Session of the 17th Legislative Chapter saw the FNC hold 16 sessions, which recorded high rates of government representation with several Ministers attending. The Council discussed a total of 10 draft federal laws and 8 general topics.

Federal Government Ministers showed notable commitment to answering queries from members of the Federal National Council, who submitted a total of 34 queries.
