Eithad Water and Electricity delegation visits wheat farm in Mleiha

SHARJAH, Dr. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, discussed with Youssef Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of the Eithad Water and Electricity and his accompanying delegation; and Engineer Faisal Al Serkal, Director of the Water Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), ways to activate joint cooperation in developing water and electricity services in accordance with international best practices, in preparation for the launch of the second phase of the wheat farm in Mleiha and all projects of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock that contribute to enhancing food security in the UAE.

This came during the visit of Eithad Water and Electricity delegation, and SEWA’s water official to the wheat farm in Mleiha, where they were briefed on the farm’s achievement in record time during the first phase.

The delegation also expressed its thanks to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for the success of the first season of the farm, which was culminated in the harvest ceremony for this strategic project that enhances the UAE’s food security.

l Tunaiji praised the efforts of the Etihad Water and Electricity and the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority in implementing projects aimed at supporting sustainability efforts and focusing on the water and energy sectors, and developing their operations in line with the vision and strategic directions of Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general.

He stressed the keenness of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to open channels of cooperation with all sectors, aimed at achieving the sustainability of the agricultural sector and livestock, in order to strengthen the food security system, and cooperate with all relevant authorities, to raise the efficiency of services and provide them with high specifications and quality to achieve sustainable development.

The CEO of the Etihad Water and Electricity expressed the full readiness to contribute to all projects announced by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, related to agriculture, livestock breeding and pastures, and to provide all facilities to supply these vital projects with water and electricity in cooperation and coordination with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and keeping pace with all development plans within early periods, to secure and deliver these services in record time, to enhance food security.

For his part, the Director of the Water Department at SEWA explained that the authority is constantly working to provide the necessary support and services to work towards the success of the wheat farm project in Mleiha in its three phases, which is one of the strategic projects in the UAE, pointing to strengthening cooperation with the Etihad Water and Electricity to provide support for vital projects with the best international standards.
