Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Gets Ready for the Season Finals

Abu Dhabi Schools Champions, the official schools competition and talent discovery platform, organized by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is getting ready for the Season Finals for all its sports, which will take place May 14th and May 15th in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Schools Champions 2021-2022 Season Finals will feature 46 government and public schools from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra with both teams and individual sports.

On May 14th, the Athletics Finals and Cycle 1 Football finals will take place at Hudayriyat from 5pm with 139 runners, both male and female, competing across 100m, 200m, 400m race and a 100m relay. In Football Cycle 1 girls Finals, Al Qemma School and Al Thuraya Schools, both from Abu Dhabi will face each other, and in the Cycle 1 Boys Final, Al Zabyania School and Al Fateh School will be facing against each.

These will be followed by an Awards Ceremony at 8:40pm in the presence of senior government and schools officials, family members, supporting friends and community members.

On May 15th, the Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Handball finals for Cycles 2 and 3 players will take place at Al Jazira Club from 4pm with 28 School Teams competing with both male and female players.

In Handball Cycle 2 Boys, Baynouna School in al Dhafra will face off against Al Taawaun School Abu Dhabi, and in Handball Cycle 3 Boys, Dar Al Uloom School in Al Ain will face off against Horizon School in Abu Dhabi.

In Volleyball Cycle 3 Girls, Al Ain Juniors School from Al Ain will face off against American International School MBZ from Abu Dhabi whereas in Volleyball Cycle 3 Boys Applied Tech School MBZ will face off against Baniyas IAT School both from Abu Dhabi.

In Football Cycle 2 Girls, Fatima Bint Mubarak School from Abu Dhabi will face off against Al Ain Juniors School from Al Ain, whereas in Football Cycle 3 Girls Gems American Academy from Abu Dhabi will face off against Emirates Falcon School from Al Ain.

In Football Cycle 2 Boys, Summit School Abu Dhabi will face off against Al Maharat School Abu Dhabi. In Football Cycle 3 Boys, Abdul Qader School will face off against The Model School, both from Abu Dhabi.

In Basketball Cycle 2 Girls, Yas Private School will face Summit School, both from Abu Dhabi, whereas in Basketball Cycle 3 Girls Emirates Falcon School will face off against Our Own English, both from Al Ain.

In Basketball Cycle 2 Boys, The Model School Abu Dhabi will face off against Our Own English Al Ain and in Basketball Cycle 3 Boys, Gems American Academy will face off against American International School, both from Abu Dhabi.

These matches will be followed by an Awards Ceremony at 8:45pm in the presence of senior government and schools officials, family members, supporting friends and community members.

The Finals will be executed in a Festival atmosphere for the whole community with half time shows featuring entertainment and a Fan Zone with exciting activations alongside the qualifying matches. These include football challenges to test flexibility, speed and precision ball control with exciting prizes. All family and community members are invited to come down, support their players and take part in the Finals Festival.

The Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Winners will receive valuable Prizes. Cycle 2 and 3 winning teams will win a 7-day Professional Development and Training Camp in Europe whereas Cycle 1 winners will win immersive local experiences.

The Dream Team

The Finals will also feature the unveiling of the ‘Dream Team’ program, a talent discovery program featuring the scouting of talent by Emirati club and international scouts. In the first phase of the program, 60 top players were selected by participating private and public schools from across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. These consisted of 40 football players and 20 basketball players which met at Baniyas Club in Abu Dhabi on May 7th, where they engaged in matches against other schools under the watchful eye of scouts from local and international clubs.

Talent Unveiling

Following their performance, where talents demonstrated a high level of skill and performance, 16 football players and 10 basketball players will be selected by Abu Dhabi club scouts to form the ‘2022 Dream Team’. Following the unveiling, the Dream Team will be invited for unique training sessions with national club and academy coaches in Abu Dhabi. The Dream Team will then be invited to play in a first of its kind Super School Cup, where they will play against Abu Dhabi Clubs, allowing top talents to experience a professional environment.
