Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Football Festival Concludes with Great Success

Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced today that the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Season Finals will take place in May, following the success conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions Football Festival.

Held on Saturday March 19th in Zayed Sports City, the festival witnessed a record participation from 87 schools from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra and 1,008 participating male and female players (440 from Abu Dhabi, 380 from Al Ain and 184 from Al Dhafra), as well as coaches, friends and family members who came out to cheer their teams from the sidelines in the final qualifying rounds.

After an intense day of matches, 28 teams from across all cycles and team sports qualified for the Season Finals of the Abu Dhabi Schools Champions.

In the boy’s football competitions, Al Dhabiania and Al-Fateh schools qualified for the final from the cycle 1. Al Dhabiania beat Al-Rahba 3-1, while Al-Fateh beat Mezyad 2-1, and the third place went to Mezyad School after beating Al-Rahba 2-1 .

In Cycle 2 competitions, Summit International School and Al Maharat qualified to the final, after Summit beat Al Taawun 1-0 and Al Maharat defeated Al Andalus 2-0, while Al Andalus team won third place after beating Al Taawun 3-1

As for Cycle 3, Abdul Qader Al Jazaeri and The Model School qualified for the final, after the first beat Abu Dhabi Indian School Muroor 5-0, and The Model beat Abu Dhabi International 2-0, while the third place went to Abu Dhabi Indian School Muroor after its victory over Abu Dhabi International 2-0.

As for the girls’ football competitions for cycle 3, GEMS American Academy and Emirates Falcon qualified for the final, after GEMS American Academy defeated Abu Dhabi International 3-0 and Emirates Falcon defeated Umm Al Emarat 3-2, while Abu Dhabi International achieved third place by defeating Um Al Emarat School 3-0.

In basketball cycle 3 competitions that were held at Al Jazira Club, GEMS American Academy and Abu Dhabi International qualified for the final match after GEMS American Academy beat Horizon 23-9 and Abu Dhabi International School over The Model School 15-9, and the Model School earned 3rd place by defeating Horizon 20-15.

In handball Cycle 3 boys competitions held at Fatima Bint Mubarak Hall, Dar Al Uloom and Horizon Schools reached the final. Dar Al Uloom beat Abu Dhabi Indian School 9-4, while Horizon beat Hour on English 2-1, and Abu Dhabi Indian ranked third after Her victory over Our Own English 10-5.

Skills challenges were held alongside the competitions, to test student’s flexibility, fitness and ball control with coaches from the LaLiga Academy, as well as games and competitions for children. Challenge winners earned various prizes such as tickets for Footlab, the world’s first indoor performance and entertainment park as well as Nike T-shirts.
