Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council announces 3Q 2022 performance index of operating sectors

ABU DHABI, The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), in its performance indicators of its operational sectors, said it inspected 20,352 products to verify their conformity with specifications, issued 5,585 certificates of conformity for individual services, 128 measurement calibration certificates, and completed 230,000 laboratory tests in the third quarter of 2022.

Dr. Hilal Humaid Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of the Council, said that QCC works according to a strategic plan that aims to enhance its services in areas of conformity and specifications to meet the needs of partners from the public and private sectors.

He stressed that the Council’s keenness to provide all its services through Tamm – the integrated electronic services system – helps improve work by reducing time and cost, in addition to expanding the scope of services to meet the needs of QCC’s partners by providing value added services.

According to the performance report, the Central Testing Laboratory completed more than 230,000 laboratory tests during January to September 2022 across verticals such as food, liquids, water, medicines, medical equipment, building and construction materials, transformer oils, environment, agriculture, and cosmetics.

The laboratory also carried out 160,436 laboratory tests for water, accounting for 70.6% of the total tests in 2022. It conducted 45,684 laboratory tests for food and liquids, which accounted for 20.1%, of tests, in addition to 229 tests for medicines and medical equipment, 6,565 tests for building and construction materials, 6,532 tests for electrical transformer oils, 6,612 environmental tests, 741 agricultural tests, and 299 for cosmetics.

During the third quarter, the Council’s Markets and Consumer Services Sector verified 20,352 products for conformity with specifications, including 18,975 products during field inspections and 1,377 products on online market platforms, 2,763 legal measurement tools and 166 pre-packaged products.

The Market and Consumer Services Sector also recalled three products from the market for lack of conformity, which included 3,710 items, while 12 products were rectified, spanning 4,829 items, and 7 internationally recalled products monitored were found to be available in the country’s markets.

The Emirates Metrology Institute of the Council issued 128 measurement calibration certificates during the period, conducted 81 standard comparisons of measurement devices, implemented a training program, provided 7 advisory services and issued 7 advisory reports.

As per the performance indicators, the Conformity and Specifications Services Sector issued 5,585 certificates of conformity for individual services and renewed 3,265 certificates, while 30 product registration certificates and 99 product conformity certificates were issued, and 111 other certificates renewed, in addition to the issuance of 18 licences using the Trust Mark and renewed 79 other licences.
