Sharjah Crown Prince chairs Executive Council meeting

SHARJAH — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, has chaired the meeting of the Executive Council, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

The meeting, held at the Sharjah Ruler’s Court, discussed a range of issues related to comprehensive development plans, ways of promoting government services and initiatives adopted by the emirate in cultural, social and economic areas, to achieve a prosperous living and stable environment for its citizens and residents.

After approving the minutes of the previous meeting, the council reviewed the recommendations of the International Government Communication Forum 2017. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, stated that the discussions that took place during forum’s sixth edition played an important role for placing recommendations to develop and support government communication to achieve the desired development goals.

He added that the recommendations included promoting the role of media in supporting sustainable development programmes and its interest in development efforts and promoting human values, as well as the importance of official institutions in promoting their presence in social media and launching specialised training programmes to raise the capacities of employees in government communication.

The council approved a range of services from the Housing Department for holders of ‘Homat Al Watan’ cards. Khalifa Mosbeh Al Tunaiji, Head of the Housing Department, stated that these services are intended as an appreciation for our soldiers and their role in protecting the nation.

The council also reviewed the response of the Planning and Survey Department on the recommendations of the Consultative Council of Sharjah from its discussions on the department’s policies. Eng. Khalid bin Batti Al Muhairi, Head of the Planning and Survey Department, stressed that the recommendations are beneficial to the emirate and the government’s work process, while the department is working on many recommendations according to its development plans, made with the co-operation of various government authorities.

The council issued Resolution No. 16 of 2017 on holding the first regular session of the twelfth annual session of the Municipal Councils of the Emirate of Sharjah on 1st June, 2017. The council also reviewed the bi-annual report of the Vehicle Inspection Centres Committee.

The council reviewed the agenda of the 17th session of the second ordinary session of the ninth legislative chapter of the Consultative Council of Sharjah, to be held on Thursday, 25th May, 2017, as well as Emiri Decree No. 24 of 2017 regarding the establishment of the Sharjah Sports Club.
