Large fire breaks out in Turkish military zone near Syrian border

ISTANBUL — A large fire has broken out in a military zone in Turkey’s southern province of Kilis bordering Syria, and small explosions have been heard from an ammunition depot there, state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Thursday.

Reuters is reporting that fire fighters are working to control the blaze and traffic has been halted on a highway in the area, it added. There were no reports of any casualties and the cause of the fire was unclear. Television showed images of black smoke billowing into the sky, Reuters said.
